When Life Becomes Too Heavy

There was a season when my life looked full on the outside but inside, I felt empty. As a wife, mother, and working parent, my days were consumed with responsibilities, schedules, and caring for everyone else. I rarely paused long enough to ask how I was doing, and even less how often did I sit quietly with God. Although I believed in God, my relationship with Him God slowly drifted into the background. My prayers were short and reactive spoken when something went wrong or when fear crept in. I was moving through life on autopilot, doing what needed to be done, but my soul was tired. Over time, exhaustion turned into frustration. Frustration became resentment. And resentment quietly stole my joy. I wondered how I could be doing so much and yet feel so unfulfilled. The peace and purpose promised in God’s Word felt distant, almost unreachable.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

Eventually, the weight became too heavy to carry. I reached a breaking point where pretending to be “okay” was no longer an option. That moment when I could no longer rely on my own strength became the doorway to healing. Sometimes healing doesn’t begin when things fall into place. Sometimes it begins when we finally admit we are tired.

The Moment Everything Shifted

At my lowest point, I cried out to God. Not out of routine, but out of desperation. I wasn’t asking for quick fixes or surface solutions. I needed real change. In that moment, God revealed something I hadn’t wanted to face: my life was misaligned with His Word. I had been carrying burdens God never intended me to hold fear, rejection, regret, worry, past sins, hurt, anger, trauma, shame, disappointment, unforgiveness, and anxiety. I was trying to manage everything on my own while leaving little room for God to lead. As I began seeking God intentionally, He gently invited me to release what was weighing me down. Through prayer, surrender, and time in Scripture, I laid those burdens at His feet. One by one, I let go.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7

Prayer became more than words it became a place of refuge. God didn’t just speak peace into my circumstances; He brought peace into my heart. Healing wasn’t instant, but it was undeniable. With each step of surrender, clarity replaced confusion, and hope replaced despair. That was the turning point. Healing started when I stopped trying to control everything and allowed God to realign my heart.

Living Healed and Anchored in God

Healing didn’t mean life suddenly became easy but it changed how I lived. When I placed God back at the center of my life, my priorities shifted. My identity was no longer rooted in what I did for others, but in who I was in Christ. I began to see myself the way God sees me—loved, chosen, and created with purpose. Fear no longer had the final word. God’s Word became my anchor in moments of uncertainty, and prayer became my first response instead of my last resort.

“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33

Living healed means living surrendered. It means trusting God even when the path ahead isn’t fully clear. It means returning to Him daily not just when life feels heavy, but in moments of gratitude and joy as well.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3

This journey is the reason Healing Starts With God exists. This blog was created to share stories of healing, restoration, and hope to remind others that God is still working in every season of life.

If you are feeling weary, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin, know this: God meets you exactly where you are. Healing doesn’t start when everything is fixed it starts when you turn your heart toward Him.

Remember your story matters, your healing matters and healing starts with God!
